Is your battery energy storage (BESS) project subject to local grid constraints?
Are you concerned about exceeding local grid limits and paying penalties to your local utility (distribution system operator, DSO)?
If so, your company can benefit from Maxguard for Transformers. This solution is designed specifically for asset owners to manage energy consumption or production in line with local transformer or grid subscription capacity limitations and to avoid penalties.
Use cases
- For BESS owners to ensure that the asset output aligns with the agreements in place with the local distribution system operator (DSO).
- It also gives asset owners the ability to demonstrate compliance with operational limits set by the DSO.
Key features
Maxguard for Transformers
- Continuously monitors real-time data from the DSO/transformer with 1-second resolution,
- Calculates the maximum potential output without exceeding set limits,
- Controls the asset to ensure it stays within hourly average levels as required by the DSO or subscription agreements.
For customers with split subscriptions—partially under prime agreements and partially under conditional agreements—the solution ensures that the prime volume is fully utilized first. If additional capacity is available, it will make use of the conditional volume as well. In cases where the transformer or subscription exceeds the conditional volume, the module will automatically adjust the output to match the available capacity, addressing both momentary and hourly average values.
